2019 Cake Class Descriptions
All Classes are a 6:30 start time, Held at We Olive and Wine Bar in Trolley Square. First four cakes listed are part of a progressive series that allows you to learn each cake and build upon the last skill set. Progressive course pricing is available for a discount. February 12th– Swirly Heart Cake
This Valentine’s Day centered class is a 3 layered cake with a pink and white frosting and a piped heart made of various sized swirls. You will be stacking and filling your own cake, applying a crumb coat and a final layer of buttercream, utilizing the offset spatula to achieve even distribution. We will then outline the shape of a heart and use a piping bag attached with a piping tip to achieve the romantic and fun swirly heart within your outline.
March 15th– Green Geode Cake
The trend that made rocking out with your cake okay. You will be stacking and filling a three-layer cake, applying a crumb coat and finishing with a layer of buttercream. You will learn how to achieve smooth sides. We apply crushed up candies into cut outs of your cake to make it appear like a gem and then finish those edges off with gold edible paint.
April 3rd– Violet Strokes Cake
A patient and steady hand creates brush stroke like details on this cake. You will be stacking and filling a three-layer cake, applying a crumb coat and finishing with a layer of buttercream. In addition, you will be learning to render smooth sides and sharp edges. We will finish off with a professional decorator technique of applying buttercream onto a brush, and painting ‘strokes’ of violet on the top of our cake. And we will be piping a decorative border on the bottom and then finishing with a fresh flower.
May 20th – Watermelon
Kicking of the unofficial month to Summer with a watermelon cake. You will be stacking and filling a three-layer cake, applying a crumb coat and then we will finish off with an addition of two colors of buttercream to get that watermelon vibe. You will be learning how to smooth your icing and rendering sharp edges. You will finish off black candies to resemble the seeds.
Dates are geared towards a special occasion and come with a special menu of appetizers specifically for the class. Tickets are sold in Pairs and sold as such to the max capacity of the class.
Mother’s Day, May 11th Violet Strokes
Brides to Be, June 1st White and Blooms, This will be a 3 layer all white butter cream cake and then embellished with sweets and flowers.
